The Institute Vol. 001
THE INSTITUTE…is a story about an undergrad legacies attendance at The Institute, Virginia's southernmost HBCU, during the genesis of the Great Depression. His desire is to see leadership dismiss racist and unqualified teachers, and to increase the number of Black faculty members. But with the school in the midst of educational and regional expansion initiatives, leadership isn’t focused on shaking up their faculty at the moment.
The story is set in 1930 in Hampton, Virginia, a city that is geographically at the pinnacle of the seven cities. The campus of The Institute serves as both a beacon and a place of contention for those living in the surrounding communities.
